Welcome! ~NIA (Nee'-yah) Statement.net is a digital mentoring site that offers resources for university preparation. In this space, students use online resources to create a personal statement in written and spoken word, then share their unique visions of education with a local and national audience. |

WHY A NIA STATEMENT?
As a student with a clear personal statement, you become more visible to guidance counselors, admissions officers, and university professors who may help you on your educational journey. Writing and recording your NIA Statement can also bring you closer to peers, parents, mentors, and teachers.
I offer three suggestions for identifying your educational purpose:
- Choose a major, thesis topic, or career based on your intellectual strengths, professional competence and YOUR OWN passion
- Commit to academic rigor and to lifelong learning because you will always need flexible skills for changing times
- Watch your motives & thoughts, be sure you want to live, and remember dreams are NOT illegal in the ghetto.

COMPOSE & SUBMIT YOUR NIA STATEMENT!
Before composing your 3-D NIA Statement, use the college and employment RESOURCES to thoroughly research your options. Too often high school students default to a popular major and end up hating it. Similarly, master's or doctoral students find out too late that their thesis topic is not really their enduring interest. Take your time and produce a clear and thoughtful statement...it is your road map. Keep checking this site to view new submissions. Only statements submitted in both written and YouTube formats will be accepted.
Universities are already considering YouTube as supplemental application material and creative intellectual expression. We can give the mad scientists at DANCE YOUR DISSERTATION a run for the money, right? Youth are already speaking...let's speak on higher education!

Empowerment happens on four levels: SELF (air), COMMUNITY (fire), INSTITUTION-NATION (earth), and GLOBALLY (water).
